Only thing I didn’t like about Houtlaw review is he used the Staccato mag in majority of the review. Most people won’t buy the prodigy if they own Staccatos. Stock mags seem to be one of the problems with the prodigy. I held and racked a prodigy in my local FFL and I thought it was smooth felt good in the hand.The Staccato seemed to return to POA quicker though. Trigger was definitely better in Staccato but I think the $160 Atlas kit in the Prodigy would beat it. Shadow 2 Orange brought up the rear speedwise since its tuned for lighter loads but we ended up running heavier factory ammo through it.
The Prodigy retails for around $1,200 and and optics ready Staccato P is $2,500. So almost double the price. To me it’s not worth it for DLC and tool steel internals. Staccato Ps don't need to cost $2.5k, but it's foolish to expect a pistol thats $1k cheaper to be "just as good". No free lunch and Staccato is still the baseline for a double stack that honest to goodness works from the start.

The optics plates for The prodigy are $60 from Springfield but can be had for about $40 from Brownells Egw makes a $50 mag well for the gun. I don't know of anybody else making a prodigy specific magwell right now The 20 round mags are 140 mm. You just change the guts and base pads or probably just the guts and get 23 plus one.
